IRTA’s Animal Nutrition Department is composed of 8 researchers and 24 members of the support team for the farms at Mas de Bover, El Prat and Valls, the Mas de Bover laboratory and the Mas de Bover factory. The Department conducts research into the nutrition of monogastric animals and develops projects supported by public agencies (CICYT, INIA, European projects, etc.) and works with private sector companies throughout the world. The lines of research focus on nutrition and intestinal health, lipid metabolism, liquid feed for pigs, enzyme use to improve efficiency of production and reduce environmental impacts, and food safety, among others.
