The research group in Animal Nutrition, Management and Welfare is constitued by 12 profesoors and research scientists of the Universitat Auṭnoma of Barcelona and the Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentaries, Barcelona (Spain). The research of the group includes all major major agricultural animals. The group conducts research in the areaof swine nutrition, with particular emphasis on the functional characteristics of ingredient components, such as carbohydrates and intestinal health. The group conducts also research in the area of swine production, with a primary focus on defining feeding and management programs of pigs affecting the social behaviour of pigs, specially of group housed sows.
